Veemahus

Veemahus is a genus of ancient, extinct Kyphosiform fish that lived during the Early Devonian period. The name Veemahus comes from the Fossil site in Canada where the first specimen was discovered. The Veemahus fossils were found in sedimentary rocks in the province of British Columbia.

The Veemahus genus includes two distinct species, Veemahus major and Veemahus minor. Fossilized remains of these fish have been discovered, including nearly complete skeletons and scales. Analysis of these fossilized remains has provided significant insights into the evolution of ancient fish and their impact on the ecosystems of the Early Devonian period.

Compilations of various studies suggest that the Veemahus fish exhibited several intriguing adaptations, including a primarily flat, rhomboid-shaped skull and paired scales that were more plate-like than the normal smooth shape found in many other fish.
