Varese
Varese is a city and comune in Lombardy, northern Italy, and the capital of the Province of Varese. It is located in the Lombardy region near Lake Varese, at the foothills of the Campo dei Fiori and the Prealps, about 55 kilometers northwest of Milan. The city has ancient origins and developed through the medieval and modern periods as an urban and economic center in the region. A notable landmark is the Sacro Monte di Varese, a hilltop complex of chapels and terraces that forms part of the UNESCO World Heritage "Sacri Monti of Piedmont and Lombardy" designation, added in 2003.
