Védvezeték

Védvezeték is a Hungarian term that translates to "protective conductor" or "grounding conductor" in English. It refers to a specific type of electrical conductor within a building's wiring system designed to enhance electrical safety. Its primary function is to connect the non-current-carrying metal parts of electrical equipment, such as the metal casings of appliances or the metallic conduits containing wiring, to the earth or grounding system.

The purpose of the védvezeték is to provide a low-resistance path for electrical current in the event of a fault. If a live wire accidentally comes into contact with a metal enclosure, the védvezeték will conduct the fault current safely to the ground, preventing the enclosure from becoming energized. This significantly reduces the risk of electric shock to anyone who might touch the equipment. In a properly installed system, this fault current will also be large enough to trip a circuit breaker or blow a fuse, disconnecting the power supply. The védvezeték is typically colored green and yellow or just green, in accordance with international electrical color coding standards. It is a crucial component of modern electrical installations for ensuring user safety.
