Värvikomponendid refer to the fundamental elements that combine to create a specific color. The most common system for understanding and representing color is the subtractive color model, primarily used in printing and pigment-based applications, which involves the primary colors cyan, magenta, and yellow. When these colors are mixed, they absorb certain wavelengths of light and reflect others. For example, mixing cyan and magenta results in blue, as both absorb red and green light respectively, leaving blue to be reflected. Mixing all three primary subtractive colors in theory produces black, as all wavelengths of light are absorbed.

Another significant color model is the additive color model, used in digital displays like screens and monitors. This system utilizes red, green, and blue (RGB) as its primary colors. When these lights are combined, they add to each other's intensity. Mixing red and green light produces yellow, red and blue produce magenta, and green and blue produce cyan. Combining all three primary additive colors at full intensity results in white light.

Beyond these primary models, other color systems exist, such as the CMYK model, which adds black (K) to cyan, magenta, and yellow for printing to achieve deeper blacks and finer detail. Colors can also be described using hue, saturation, and lightness (HSL) or hue, saturation, and value (HSV) models, which offer a more intuitive understanding of a color's characteristics independent of specific mixing processes. Understanding these color components is crucial in fields like graphic design, photography, and manufacturing.
