Värvifilmid
Värvifilmid, also known as color films, are photographic films that are capable of capturing and reproducing images in color. Unlike black and white films, which only record luminance, color films utilize multiple layers of light-sensitive emulsions, each designed to respond to different wavelengths of light. Typically, these films have a blue-sensitive layer, a green-sensitive layer, and a red-sensitive layer. During the development process, these layers are chemically treated to create subtractive color dyes – cyan, magenta, and yellow – which, when combined, can recreate a wide spectrum of colors.
The history of color film development dates back to the late 19th century, with early experiments like
