Värjätäpassivimuoto is the passive form of the Finnish verb värjätä, meaning “to dye.” In Finnish, the passive voice is used when the agent performing the action is unknown, unimportant, or not stated, and the focus is on the action or its result rather than who performs it.

Present passive forms with the suffix -taan/-tään, resulting in värjätään as the common form. For example: Seinän pinta värjätään vihreällä maalilla. This expresses that the surface is being dyed (in a general, ongoing process). The present passive can also appear with different stem consonants depending on the verb, but still follows the same basic pattern.
