Udstødningsventilerne

Udstødningsventilerne, or exhaust valves, are critical components in internal combustion engines. Their primary function is to control the release of burned gases from the combustion chamber into the exhaust system. During the exhaust stroke of an engine's cycle, the exhaust valve opens, allowing the high-pressure exhaust gases to be expelled. Once the gases are expelled, the valve closes, sealing the combustion chamber for the next intake stroke.

These valves are typically made from heat-resistant alloys due to the extreme temperatures and pressures they experience during engine operation. They are precisely timed to open and close in coordination with the piston's movement and the crankshaft's rotation, ensuring efficient engine performance. The proper sealing of the exhaust valve is essential to prevent leakage of combustion gases, which can lead to reduced power output and increased emissions. Wear and tear on exhaust valves, such as burning or deformation, can significantly impair engine function and necessitate replacement. The number of exhaust valves per cylinder can vary depending on the engine design, with many modern engines featuring multiple exhaust valves per cylinder for improved gas flow and efficiency.
