Turbogépek

Turbogépek is a Hungarian term that translates to turbomachinery in English. It refers to machines that transfer energy between a rotor and a fluid, and whose primary function is to change the pressure and flow rate of the fluid. This energy transfer can be in either direction, meaning the fluid can add energy to the rotor, or the rotor can add energy to the fluid.

There are two main categories of turbogépek: turbinák (turbines) and kompresszorok (compressors) or szivattyúk (pumps). Turbines extract energy from a moving fluid, converting it into mechanical energy. Examples include steam turbines used in power plants, wind turbines that generate electricity from wind, and hydraulic turbines used in hydroelectric dams. Compressors and pumps, on the other hand, add energy to a fluid, increasing its pressure and/or flow rate. Compressors are typically used for gases, such as in refrigeration systems or gas pipelines, while pumps are used for liquids, like in water supply systems or industrial processes.

The design and operation of turbogépek are based on principles of fluid dynamics and thermodynamics. They are characterized by rotating components, such as impellers or blades, that interact with the fluid.
