TränenNasalkanal
The TränenNasalkanal, also known as the nasolacrimal duct, is a crucial anatomical structure responsible for draining tears from the eye into the nasal cavity. This drainage system begins at the puncta lacrimalia, small openings located at the inner corners of the upper and lower eyelids. From these puncta, tears flow into the lacrimal canaliculi, which merge to form the lacrimal sac. The lacrimal sac then empties into the TränenNasalkanal, a tube that travels downwards and opens into the inferior meatus of the nasal cavity, just beneath the inferior turbinate.
The primary function of the TränenNasalkanal is to prevent excessive tear accumulation on the ocular surface.
Blockages within the TränenNasalkanal can lead to various ophthalmic and otolaryngological issues. Symptoms of a blocked
