Triarilfoszfátok

Triarilfoszfátok is a Hungarian term referring to triaryl phosphates. Triaryl phosphates are a class of organophosphorus compounds with the general formula (C6H5O)3P=O, though the aryl groups can be substituted. They are characterized by a central phosphorus atom double-bonded to an oxygen atom and single-bonded to three aryl groups, typically phenyl. These compounds are often produced by the reaction of phosphorus oxychloride with phenols.

Historically, triaryl phosphates, particularly triphenyl phosphate, were widely used as flame retardants in plastics and textiles, as plasticizers to improve the flexibility of polymers, and as hydraulic fluids. Their non-flammable nature and chemical stability made them attractive for these applications.

However, concerns regarding their environmental persistence, potential for bioaccumulation, and toxicity have led to restrictions and a decline in their use in many regions and applications. Studies have investigated their presence in various environmental matrices, including water, soil, and indoor dust, and have explored their potential endocrine-disrupting properties and effects on aquatic life. Consequently, the use of certain triaryl phosphates is now regulated, and alternative flame retardants and plasticizers have been developed and are increasingly employed.
