Transzcelluláris

Transzcelluláris refers to a process or phenomenon that occurs across or through cells. In biology and medicine, this term is frequently used to describe the movement of substances from one side of a cellular barrier to the other. For instance, transcellular transport is a crucial mechanism for nutrient absorption in the intestines, where digested molecules must cross the epithelial cells to enter the bloodstream. Similarly, in the kidneys, reabsorption and secretion processes involve transcellular pathways for ions and other molecules to move between the tubular fluid and the blood.

The transcellular route involves substances entering a cell on one side, traversing its cytoplasm, and then exiting the cell on the opposite side. This is distinct from paracellular transport, which occurs in the spaces between cells. Transcellular transport can be mediated by various mechanisms, including passive diffusion, facilitated diffusion, active transport, and vesicular transport (endocytosis and exocytosis). The specific pathway and mechanism employed depend on the nature of the substance being transported and the properties of the cell membrane.
