Transmissiokolorimetri

Transmissiokolorimetri, also known as transmission colorimetry, is a technique used in analytical chemistry to measure the concentration of a substance in a solution by analyzing the amount of light it transmits. This method is based on the principle that different substances absorb light to different extents at specific wavelengths. By measuring the intensity of light transmitted through a solution, the concentration of the absorbing substance can be determined.

The process typically involves the following steps: a light source emits light at a specific wavelength, which passes through the sample solution. A detector measures the intensity of the transmitted light. The amount of light absorbed by the solution is proportional to the concentration of the absorbing substance. This relationship is described by the Beer-Lambert law, which states that the absorbance (A) of a solution is directly proportional to the concentration (c) of the absorbing substance and the path length (l) of the light through the solution, and inversely proportional to the molar absorptivity (ε) of the substance at the given wavelength.

Transmissiokolorimetri is widely used in various fields, including pharmaceuticals, environmental monitoring, and food science, for quantitative analysis of substances such as proteins, enzymes, and dyes. It is a simple, rapid, and cost-effective method that requires minimal sample preparation. However, it is limited to substances that absorb light in the visible or ultraviolet range and may not be suitable for highly turbid or scattering samples.
