Theophrastos, originally Theophrastus, was an ancient Greek philosopher and naturalist. He was born around 371 BCE in Eresos, Lesbos, and died around 287 BCE. Theophrastus was a student of Plato and later became a close associate and successor of Aristotle at the Lyceum in Athens. He is considered the "father of botany" due to his extensive work in the field.
