Teljesítményellenállás

Teljesítményellenállás is a Hungarian term that translates to "power resistor" in English. It refers to an electrical resistor designed to dissipate a significant amount of heat. Unlike standard resistors, which are typically rated for fractions of a watt, power resistors are built to handle higher power loads, often ranging from a few watts to hundreds or even thousands of watts.

The primary function of a power resistor is to convert electrical energy into thermal energy. This heat dissipation is often a desired outcome, for example, in applications where current needs to be limited or voltage needs to be dropped across a component. In other cases, the heat generated is an unavoidable byproduct of the resistor's operation, and the power resistor's design is focused on safely managing this heat to prevent damage to itself or surrounding components.
