Tarbekaus
Tarbekaus is a fictional celestial body featured in the science fiction novel "Project Hail Mary" by Andy Weir. In the story, Tarbekaus is the sun of the Gliese 581 system, a red dwarf star located approximately 20.3 light-years away from Earth. The novel describes Tarbekaus as having a much lower luminosity and temperature than Earth's sun, Sol. This characteristic is significant to the plot, as it influences the habitability of planets within its system, particularly the planet Erid, which is the primary setting for much of the novel's action. The reduced light and heat output of Tarbekaus are crucial for the survival of the unique alien life forms that inhabit Erid, as well as for the challenges faced by the human protagonist. The name Tarbekaus itself is a constructed term within the fictional universe.
