Tallmenare

Tallmenare is a small municipality located in the eastern part of the Valdoeaster region of the Republic of Loria. It lies approximately 12 kilometres north of the provincial capital, Ambrus, and occupies an area of 18.4 square kilometres. The town sits at an elevation of 245 metres above sea level and is bordered by the river Lira to the west and the outskirts of the Ispore Gorges to the east.

According to the most recent census conducted in 2021, Tallmenare has a population of 1,038 residents, a decrease of 3.4% from the 2011 census. The population density is roughly 56 inhabitants per square kilometre. Most residents identify as Lorian, and the official language is Lorianese, with a minority speaking the regional dialect of Deyour.

The first recorded mention of Tallmenare dates back to 1289, when it was listed in the royal charter of the County of Damar. During the 16th century, the area was known for its cumulate wheat production and the annual harvest festival, which attracted merchants from neighboring counties. In the 19th century, a small iron foundry was established, contributing to regional industry until its closure in 1925.

Today, Tallmenare's local economy is largely based on agriculture, particularly the cultivation of olive trees and wine production. The municipality hosts a biannual folk festival that showcases traditional music, dance, and cuisine. It is accessible via the LIRA road that connects Ambrus with the northern towns of Kallel and Nysul.
