Tagköztársaságok
Tagköztársaságok, a Hungarian term, translates to "member republics" in English. This concept typically refers to constituent states within a larger federal or confederal structure where each republic holds a degree of autonomy. Historically, this term has been most prominently associated with the Soviet Union. The USSR was officially a federation of Soviet Socialist Republics (SSRs), and each SSR could be considered a "tagköztársaság." While they had their own governments and constitutions, in practice, power was highly centralized in Moscow, and the level of actual independence varied significantly over time and by republic.
Beyond the Soviet context, the term "tagköztársaság" might be used in discussions about other federal systems
