TGFBMP

TGFBMP refers to the Transforming Growth Factor Beta Superfamily. This is a large group of secreted signaling proteins that play critical roles in a wide range of cellular processes, including cell growth, differentiation, migration, and apoptosis. These proteins are highly conserved across species and are essential for normal development and tissue homeostasis.

The TGF-beta superfamily is divided into several subfamilies, including the TGF-betas, Bone Morphogenetic Proteins (BMPs), Growth Differentiation Factors (GDFs), and Activins. These proteins exert their effects by binding to specific serine/threonine kinase receptors on the cell surface. Activated receptors phosphorylate Smad proteins, which then translocate to the nucleus and regulate the transcription of target genes. Dysregulation of TGF-beta superfamily signaling is implicated in a variety of diseases, including cancer, fibrosis, and developmental disorders.
