Szóváltozatait refers to the various forms a word can take in the Hungarian language. These variations are primarily driven by grammatical functions, such as case, number, and possession. Hungarian is an agglutinative language, meaning suffixes are attached to a root word to modify its meaning or grammatical role.

For example, the noun "ház" (house) can have numerous szóváltozatait. Adding the plural suffix "-ak" results in "házak" (houses). Further case suffixes can be added, such as the accusative case "-at" to form "házakat" (houses - direct object). Possession is also indicated by suffixes, like "házam" (my house), "házad" (your house), or "háza" (his/her/its house). These possessive suffixes can also combine with case suffixes, leading to forms like "házamban" (in my house).

Verb conjugations also create significant szóváltozatait. The verb "lát" (to see) can be conjugated to indicate person, number, tense, and mood. For instance, "látok" (I see), "látsz" (you see), "látott" (he/she/it saw), and "látnám" (I would see) are all szóváltozatait of the root verb. Understanding these variations is crucial for comprehending and correctly using Hungarian.
