Sytopenia

Sytopenia is a medical term referring to a deficiency of blood cells. This deficiency can affect one or more types of blood cells, including white blood cells (leukopenia), red blood cells (anemia), or platelets (thrombocytopenia). The specific type of sytopenia dictates the primary symptoms and potential complications.

Leukopenia, a low white blood cell count, weakens the immune system, making individuals more susceptible to infections. Anemia, characterized by a low red blood cell count or insufficient hemoglobin, reduces the oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood, leading to fatigue, weakness, and shortness of breath. Thrombocytopenia, a low platelet count, impairs the blood's ability to clot, increasing the risk of bruising and bleeding.
