SwissItalian
Swiss Italian refers to the variety of the Italian language spoken in Switzerland. It is used primarily in the Italian-speaking canton of Ticino and in parts of the canton of Graubünden (Grisons), notably the Poschiavo valley and the Bregaglia region, where Italian functions as the community language. In these areas, Italian is used in education, government, media, and public life and coexists with German, French, and Romansh.
Most speakers use a continuum between Standard Italian and local Lombard-influenced dialects known as Ticinese. While
