Swabi

Swabi District is an administrative district in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. It is part of the Mardan Division and lies in the northern part of the province. The administrative center is the town of Topi.

Swabi lies in a fertile plain of the Peshawar Basin with the Kabul River and irrigation networks shaping much of the land; the western fringe rises into foothills.

The region has a long history dating to ancient times and forms part of the historical Gandhara cultural zone, with archaeological remains in the broader area illustrating its historical significance.

The district is subdivided into several tehsils and is governed by a district administration headed by a Deputy Commissioner.

The population is predominantly ethnic Pashtuns; the main language is Pashto, with Urdu used as a lingua franca.

Agriculture is the main economic activity; key crops include wheat, maize, sugarcane, and tobacco, supported by irrigation; fruit orchards and vegetables also contribute; trade and light industry are present in larger towns.

The district hosts government and private schools and colleges; it is connected by road to Peshawar, Mardan, and other major cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
