These are essential safety devices on vehicles, used to communicate a driver's intention to change direction or lane. They are typically amber or red flashing lights, strategically placed on the front, rear, and sometimes sides of a vehicle.

The primary function of suunnanäytöt is to alert other road users to an impending maneuver. By activating the appropriate indicator on the left or right side of the vehicle, a driver signals their intention to turn left, turn right, or change lanes in that direction.
