Suojausreleitä
Suojausreleitä, known in English as protective relays, are crucial components in electrical power systems designed to detect abnormal conditions and initiate protective actions. Their primary function is to safeguard electrical equipment and personnel from damage caused by faults such as short circuits, overloads, and ground faults. When a fault occurs, a protective relay senses the deviation from normal operating parameters and sends a trip signal to a circuit breaker. The circuit breaker then opens the circuit, isolating the faulty section and preventing further damage.
There are various types of protective relays, each designed to detect specific fault conditions. Overcurrent relays
Modern protective relays are often digital, incorporating microprocessors that allow for sophisticated algorithms and flexible settings.
