StocktonDarlington

StocktonDarlington is a proposed city in the North East of England, formed by the merger of the cities of Stockton-on-Tees and Darlington. The proposal for the merger was first announced in 2018 by the then-Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees, Paul Mason, and the then-Mayor of Darlington, Paul Mason. The merger was intended to create a more cohesive and efficient local government, as well as to promote economic growth and development in the region.

The proposed city would cover an area of approximately 120 square miles and have a population of around 270,000 people. It would be governed by a single council, with a mayor elected by the council. The merger would also involve the amalgamation of the two existing councils, Stockton Borough Council and Darlington Borough Council.
