Stjärnor

Stjärnor is a Swedish word that translates to "stars" in English. In astronomy, stars are luminous spheres of plasma held together by their own gravity. The Sun is our closest star and is essential for life on Earth, providing light and heat. Stars vary greatly in size, temperature, and luminosity, ranging from massive blue giants to small, dense white dwarfs.

The life cycle of a star is a complex process that spans billions of years. Stars are born in nebulae, vast clouds of gas and dust, where gravitational collapse triggers nuclear fusion. This fusion process, primarily converting hydrogen into helium, is the source of a star's energy. As a star ages, it exhausts its nuclear fuel and undergoes significant changes.

The eventual fate of a star depends on its initial mass. Smaller stars, like our Sun, will eventually become red giants before shedding their outer layers to form a planetary nebula and leaving behind a white dwarf. More massive stars can explode as supernovae, leaving behind either a neutron star or a black hole.
