Stgw

Stgw refers to a series of assault rifles developed in Switzerland. The designation stands for Sturmgewehr, meaning assault rifle in German. The most prominent weapon in this line is the Stgw 57, also known as the SIG 510. This rifle was adopted by the Swiss army in 1957 and served as their standard issue rifle for many years. It is a select-fire rifle that fires the 7.5x55mm Swiss round and is known for its robust construction and distinctive straight-line stock design.

Following the Stgw 57, Switzerland developed and adopted the Stgw 90, also known as the SIG 550. This rifle entered service in the late 1980s and became the new standard issue firearm for the Swiss armed forces. The Stgw 90 is chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO and is recognized for its reliability, modularity, and accuracy. It features a gas-operated rotating bolt system and is a highly regarded rifle in both military and civilian markets for its quality and performance. The Stgw 90 has seen various updated versions and remains in service with Swiss forces.
