StarWars

Star Wars is a sprawling science fantasy franchise created by George Lucas. It began with the film Star Wars, released in 1977, which was later retitled Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. The original trilogy, consisting of A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back (1980), and Return of the Jedi (1983), tells the story of Luke Skywalker's struggle against the oppressive Galactic Empire.

The franchise expanded with a prequel trilogy: The Phantom Menace (1999), Attack of the Clones (2002), and Revenge of the Sith (2005), which chronicles the rise of Darth Vader and the fall of the Jedi Order. A sequel trilogy followed, beginning with The Force Awakens (2015), continuing the Skywalker saga with new characters facing new threats.

Beyond the main saga films, Star Wars encompasses numerous spin-off films like Rogue One and Solo, animated and live-action television series such as The Mandalorian and Obi-Wan Kenobi, as well as a vast array of books, comics, video games, and merchandise. The universe is characterized by its blend of space opera, mythology, and adventure, featuring iconic elements like the Force, lightsabers, and a diverse cast of alien species and droids. The narrative typically explores themes of good versus evil, destiny, and redemption. Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012, continuing the development and expansion of the Star Wars universe.
