Standardatmosfäriska refers to a model atmosphere used as a reference for representing the properties of Earth's atmosphere at different altitudes. This standardized model is crucial for various scientific and engineering applications, including aviation, meteorology, and space exploration. It provides a consistent set of values for parameters such as temperature, pressure, density, and wind speed, which vary with altitude.

The most widely used standard atmosphere model is the International Standard Atmosphere (ISA). The ISA defines a set of atmospheric properties at sea level, including a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius (288.15 Kelvin) and an atmospheric pressure of 1013.25 hectopascals (hPa) or 1 atmosphere (atm). It also specifies how these properties change with increasing altitude up to a certain limit, typically around 100 kilometers.

These models are simplified representations and do not account for daily or seasonal variations, nor for localized weather phenomena. However, they serve as a valuable baseline for comparing real-world atmospheric conditions, designing aircraft and spacecraft, calibrating instruments, and conducting scientific research. Different standard atmosphere models may exist for specific regions or purposes, but the ISA remains the most common international benchmark. The establishment of standard atmospheres allows for reproducible and comparable results across different studies and applications.
