Sprutapparat

Sprutapparat is a device designed to apply liquids as a spray. The term covers portable and stationary units used in agriculture, horticulture, painting, cleaning, and disinfection. A spray apparatus enables controlled atomization of liquid into droplets to improve coverage and reduce waste.

Most sprutapparat consist of a reservoir for the liquid, a source of pressure (manual pump, electric motor, or compressed air), a hose or tube, and a spray nozzle or wand. Pumps may be piston, diaphragm, or peristaltic; some systems rely on air-assisted atomization, others on high-pressure hydraulic spraying (airless). Nozzles are designed to produce different spray patterns, such as conical, flat-fan, or adjustable sprays; nozzle orifice size determines flow rate and droplet size.

Operation involves filling the tank, pressurizing the chamber, and triggering the spray to release liquid as droplets. The spray characteristics depend on pressure, nozzle, and liquid properties, affecting drift, penetration, and coverage. Cleaning and rinsing after use prevent residue and corrosion.

Applications include gardening and agricultural spraying of water, fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides; painting and coating; cleaning and disinfection; and horticultural fogging in greenhouse settings. Varieties range from hand-held pump sprayers and backpack sprayers to cart- or trailer-mounted units; specialized versions exist for airless painting and high-volume agricultural spraying.

Safety and maintenance are essential: use appropriate personal protective equipment, follow product label instructions, and operate within the device’s material compatibility. Regularly inspect seals, replace worn gaskets, clean nozzles, and depressurize before service. Proper storage and disposal of chemicals are important for environmental and user safety.
