Sprengmeisters
Sprengmeisters, also known as "master miners" or "master blasters," were highly skilled miners during the Middle Ages, particularly in the German-speaking regions. Their primary role was to safely extract valuable minerals, such as silver, gold, and copper, from deep underground mines. Sprengmeisters were responsible for the controlled demolition of rock using explosives, a technique known as "sprengung." This process involved the careful placement of explosives in strategic locations to break down the rock and facilitate the extraction of minerals.
The work of Sprengmeisters was dangerous and required a deep understanding of geology, chemistry, and engineering.
Sprengmeisters were often highly respected within the mining community and were known for their technical skills
