South Pannonia refers to the southern part of the historical Pannonian Basin. This region, largely encompassing present-day Croatia and parts of Serbia, Slovenia, and Hungary, was historically a significant crossroads of cultures and empires due to its fertile plains and strategic location. The Pannonian Basin itself is a large geographical area in Central Europe, bordered by the Alps, Carpathians, and Dinarides mountain ranges.
