Sickerbehältern
Sickerbehälter, also known as leachate containers, are storage vessels designed to collect and hold leachate—the liquid that has percolated through solid waste, manure, or other contaminated materials. They are used in waste management, mining, and agricultural settings to prevent contamination of soil, surface water, and groundwater by hazardous liquids. Typical Sickerbehälter are fabricated from corrosion-resistant materials such as high-density polyethylene (HDPE), fiberglass, or lined concrete, and they feature impermeable walls and bases, sealed joints, and a secure lid. Many installations include manholes or access ports, level sensors, and pumps or siphons to transfer the leachate to a treatment facility. Some designs integrate secondary containment and leakage detection to further reduce environmental risk. They can be located above ground or underground, depending on site constraints.
Applications include landfills and transfer stations to store collected leachate until treatment; mining operations to manage
Operation and maintenance involve regular inspection of seals and joints, calibration of level sensors, routine cleaning,
