Seguíamos

Seguíamos is a verb form in Spanish, functioning as the first-person plural imperfect indicative of the verb seguir. The basic meaning of seguir is to follow, to pursue, or to continue, and in the imperfect it expresses an action that was ongoing or habitual in the past. In narrative and descriptive prose, seguidos can set a continuing background: for example, seguíamos el rastro de las huellas, or seguíamos adelante despite difficulties. It can also convey a sense of persistence in a past time, such as a plan or goal that remained uncompleted for a period.

The imperfect form follows the regular conjugation pattern for -er verbs in the nosotros form, with the accent on the i in many speakers: seguíamos. Related forms include seguía (yo, usted, él/ella) and seguías, seguía, seguíais, seguían. In addition to literal following, seguíamos is commonly used with gerunds to indicate ongoing actions in the past, as in seguíamos hablando (we were still talking) or seguíamos intentando (we kept trying).
