Schallbild
Schallbild is a German term meaning "sound image." It is used in acoustics, psychoacoustics, musicology, and audio engineering to refer to either the perceptual image of sound in listening or a visual representation of its acoustic properties. In perceptual terms, a Schallbild describes how a listener reconstructs the auditory scene from a sound source within a given environment. This involves timbre, pitch, loudness, and spatial cues such as direction, distance, and reverberation, which together form the image of the sound in space.
In recording, mixing, and sound design, the term is also used to describe the overall sonic impression
In analytical contexts, Schallbild can denote a visual representation of sound, such as a spectrogram or other
