SanDisk

SanDisk is a brand of flash memory products developed by the SanDisk Corporation. The company was founded in 1988 by Eli Harari and Sanjay Mehrotra in California and specialized in solid-state storage technologies, including memory cards and USB flash drives used in consumer electronics.

SanDisk contributed to the growth of flash storage through products such as CompactFlash cards introduced in the 1990s, and later expanded into SD and microSD memory cards, USB drives, and solid-state drives for consumer and enterprise markets. The company played a significant role in popularizing NAND-based storage across a variety of devices.

In 2016, Western Digital announced the acquisition of SanDisk for about $19 billion; the deal closed later that year, and SanDisk became part of Western Digital.

Today, the SanDisk brand continues as a product line within Western Digital, with offerings that include removable memory cards, USB flash drives, and solid-state drives designed for cameras, computers, and mobile devices.
