Salmo
Salmo is a genus of ray-finned fish in the family Salmonidae, within the subfamily Salmoninae. It comprises the true salmons and includes species such as Salmo salar (Atlantic salmon) and Salmo trutta (brown trout). In modern taxonomy, some species historically placed in Salmo have been reassigned to other genera, such as Salvelinus and Oncorhynchus.
In Italian, Salmo is the singular form of psalm, used in religious contexts for a single psalm.
Salmo, British Columbia, is a village in the West Kootenay region of Canada.
