Saliktie

Saliktie is a small rural settlement situated in the eastern part of Lithuania, within the administrative boundaries of the Vilnius County. The village lies approximately 25 kilometers northeast of Vilnius, the nation's capital, and is part of the Vilnius District Municipality. Saliktie is positioned along the banks of the Šarvila River, which drains into the Neris River basin.

The population of Saliktie was recorded at 112 inhabitants according to the 2011 Lithuanian census, and the demographic composition is predominantly ethnic Lithuanian, with a small percentage of Belarusian and Polish minorities. The settlement covers an area of about 4.8 square kilometers, characterized by a mix of forested land, cultivated fields, and scattered residential structures.

Historically, Saliktie is first mentioned in archival records dating back to the late 16th century, during the era of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The village traditionally engaged in subsistence agriculture, with peat extraction and dairy farming being the primary economic activities in the 19th and early 20th centuries. After World War II, the area fell under Soviet administration and underwent collectivization, which impacted land use patterns and local livelihoods.
