Saint Avit is a figure associated with early Christianity in Gaul. While historical details are scarce, he is traditionally recognized as a bishop. The most prominent account of his life comes from the writings of Gregory of Tours, a sixth-century bishop and historian. Gregory mentions Avit in his History of the Franks, portraying him as a key figure in the conversion of the Franks to Nicene Christianity.
According to tradition, Saint Avit played a significant role in convincing Clovis I, the King of the
