SGLTsymport
SGLTsymport refers to sodium-glucose cotransporter symport proteins. These proteins are membrane transport proteins responsible for the reabsorption of glucose in the kidneys and the absorption of glucose in the small intestine. They are a type of secondary active transporter, meaning they utilize the electrochemical gradient of sodium ions established by the sodium-potassium pump to drive the movement of glucose against its concentration gradient.
