Ríkisútvarp
Ríkisútvarpið (RÚV) is the national public broadcasting service of Iceland. It operates a variety of television and radio channels, as well as a comprehensive website offering news, entertainment, and cultural content. RÚV is funded primarily through a license fee paid by individuals and businesses, supplemented by advertising revenue. Its mandate is to provide a diverse range of programming that serves the public interest, including news and current affairs, education, arts, culture, and entertainment, catering to all age groups and demographics within Iceland. RÚV plays a significant role in Icelandic society, acting as a common platform for information and discussion, and a preserver of Icelandic language and culture. The organization has a long history, tracing its origins back to the early days of radio broadcasting in the country. It aims to be independent and impartial in its reporting and programming decisions. RÚV also engages in international co-productions and participates in European broadcasting initiatives.
