Ré is the second note of the solfège scale in many musical traditions, corresponding to the pitch D. In movable-do systems the syllables do-re-mi-fa-sol-la-si designate scale degrees relative to the tonic; in fixed-do systems re always equals D. The note is written as ré in French notation and can occupy different octaves; its frequency depends on the octave and tuning standard (for example, D4 is about 293.66 Hz under A4 = 440 Hz).
