Rikereglen is a term used in political history and legal studies to denote the framework by which a monarch governs a realm. The word combines rik (realm or kingdom) with reglen (the rule) and is used to describe the set of practices, norms, and legal constructs that legitimize royal authority while accommodating customary law and the estates.

Origins lie in late medieval and early modern Scandinavia, where kings relied on a blend of royal prerogative and noble consent. The rikereglen concept emphasizes three elements: centralization of royal authority, the recognition or codification of royal rights—such as taxation, judicature, and military leadership—and negotiation with aristocratic bodies or estates (the riksråd or equivalent). It also includes relationships with the church and with towns and charters.
