Repeämis

Repeämis is a term used in some discussions of linguistics and media studies to describe the deliberate repetition of a unit—a word, phrase, or motif—across multiple utterances or media in order to reinforce meaning, create cohesion, or aid memorability. It is not universally standardized and its definition varies by author.

The form appears to combine a root associated with repetition with a nominalizing suffix; the term emerged in online discourse in the late 2010s and has appeared in analyses of speech, advertising, and digital content. There is no single formal definition recognized across major linguistic authorities.

Repeämis can take exact repetition or deliberate variation, and can occur within a single text or across multiple platforms. It can increase recall and cohesion, support branding, or heighten rhetorical impact, but may also lead to fatigue or accusations of manipulation.

In practice, repeats may appear as recurring lines, slogans with slight variations, or echoed phrases across posts. It relates to established concepts such as anaphora, refrain, and repetition, as well as to memetic practices in online culture and to discourse-analytic approaches in communication studies.
