Rebekahs
Rebekahs is a fraternal organization that is an auxiliary to the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. It was founded in 1851 by Rev. William R. Davies. The organization is open to women and men. Its stated purpose is to provide a forum for charitable and social activities, and to promote the principles of friendship, love, and truth. The Rebekahs have a symbolic system of degrees and rituals that guide their members in their personal and communal endeavors. Membership is typically gained through invitation or by being a relative of a member of the Odd Fellows. The organization engages in various community service projects, supports benevolent causes, and fosters a sense of fellowship among its members. It operates on local, state, and national levels. The Rebekahs are also known for their distinctive regalia and ceremonial practices.
