Realvärdesaktier

Realvärdesaktier, often translated as "real asset stocks" or "inflation-linked stocks," are companies whose financial performance and stock value are perceived to be positively correlated with inflation or rising asset prices. These companies typically own tangible assets that tend to increase in value when the general price level rises. Examples include companies involved in natural resources such as oil and gas, mining, and agriculture, as these commodities often see their prices escalate during inflationary periods. Real estate companies, particularly those owning income-generating properties, are also considered realvärdesaktier as rents and property values often keep pace with inflation.

The underlying principle is that the value of the company's physical assets provides a hedge against the erosion of purchasing power that accompanies inflation. When the cost of goods and services increases, the value of the underlying assets held by these companies may also rise, thus preserving or even enhancing shareholder value. This contrasts with companies that primarily rely on intellectual property, services, or manufacturing with fixed cost structures, which may struggle to pass on rising input costs to consumers and could see their profit margins squeezed during inflationary times. Investors often allocate a portion of their portfolio to realvärdesaktier during periods of expected inflation to protect their capital.
