Pythagoreio

Pythagoreio is a town and a former municipality on the island of Samos, Greece. Today, it is a municipal unit within the municipality of East Samos. Located on the southeastern coast of Samos, Pythagoreio is historically significant and renowned for its ancient harbor, which was once a crucial center for trade and naval activity in the Ionian Sea. The town is named after the ancient Greek mathematician and philosopher Pythagoras, who was born in Pythagoreio.

The archaeological site of Pythagoreio and its ancient sanctuary of Hera are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
