Puoliläpäisevien

Puoliläpäisevien is a Finnish term that translates to "semipermeable" in English. It describes a membrane or barrier that allows certain molecules or ions to pass through it by diffusion, while blocking others. The rate of passage depends on the pressure, concentration, and temperature of the molecules or ions in question, as well as the permeability of the membrane.

Semipermeable membranes are fundamental to many biological and chemical processes. In biology, cell membranes are a prime example of puoliläpäisevien. They control the passage of nutrients into the cell and waste products out, maintaining the cell's internal environment.
