Proto-Alemannic, also known as Early Alemannic, is a term used to describe the early stages of the Alemannic dialect, which is a subgroup of the High Alemannic dialect of the Alemannic language. The Alemannic language is a West Germanic language that was spoken in the Alemannia region, which roughly corresponds to present-day Switzerland, southern Germany, and northern Alsace in France.
