Precipitaatiolla

Precipitaatiolla refers to the process of precipitation in meteorology, which is any form of water particle that forms in the atmosphere and falls to the Earth. This includes rain, snow, sleet, and hail. Precipitation forms when water vapor in the atmosphere condenses into liquid water droplets or ice crystals. These particles grow by colliding with other particles or by accreting moisture from the surrounding air. When these particles become heavy enough, gravity overcomes the updrafts in the atmosphere, and they fall to the ground.

The type of precipitation that reaches the ground depends on the temperature profile of the atmosphere between the cloud and the surface. If the entire atmosphere is above freezing, rain will fall. If the atmosphere is below freezing all the way to the ground, snow will result. If there is a layer of freezing air above a layer of warmer air near the surface, sleet can form. Hail forms in strong thunderstorm updrafts where ice crystals are repeatedly lifted and coated with supercooled water, growing in size until they are too heavy to be supported by the updraft. Precipitation is a crucial part of the Earth's water cycle, replenishing freshwater resources on land.
